MEET RICK

Rick Bellew is a seasoned leader in the railroad safety industry, bringing over 20 years of extensive experience in safety, training, and regulatory compliance across freight and passenger rail sectors.

With a strong educational foundation including a Bachelor’s and master’s in business administration, along with an Associate’s in Occupational Safety and Health, Rick is also a certified Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

Throughout his career, Rick has been deeply involved in shaping industry safety standards and practices. He has played pivotal roles in influential committees such as the APTA Rail Safety Committee, AREMA Committees 24 and 40 focusing on Training and Safety, and the NRC Safety Committee. His contributions to these committees reflect his dedication to advancing safety protocols within the railroad sector.

For over 2 decades Rick has held significant positions including Chief Safety Officer for RailPros, Director of Engineering for Caltrain, Safety Inspector for the Federal Railroad Administration, Deputy Project Manager and Deputy General Manager for Herzog Transit Services and Transit America Services respectively and Roadmaster at BNSF Railway.

Rick has overseen comprehensive safety programs, training initiatives and regulatory compliance across all facets of the organization encompassing all parts 49 CFR 200 – 299, 29 CFR Parts 1910 and 1926. In his previous role he led a team of dynamic safety professionals, driving forward the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards with a focus on behavior based decision making in an effort to bring every one home unharmed.
